Now we opened a discussion group on Google to let you give us the feedback, ideas, suggestions, improvements, etc.. Please help us to make a better version with your needs. Feedback!
This idea came from a post I wrote( And now what?) (Google translated) in a spanish Blog called www.labrujulaverde.com. The post showed ways to find interesting and free software to improve your computer experience easily. Mainly to help the people by a popular spanish blog to solve common needs and improve the use of the PC. After this post I tried many ways to keep the idea in my Worpress blog but was difficult to mantain and to extend. Then I tried to put "TopSoftware" in Listography. It's a great web site but I needed to have the option to put more text and options. After this process I decided to start with this project.
Yes, as every project it has changed because at the begining the lists were going to be about software. But I found that you can share different types of elements as software, blogs, links, feeds, books, videos and other lists. In the future I will add more options if there is a need.
At the moment I'm the developer, designer and tester. My name is Genís and I live in Barcelona, Spain. You can read my spanish blog called Crónica de una vida. Also I received interesting ideas from Belén and Guillermo.
All the objectives are done, but I'm looking forward to make this useful for more people.
I will updated soon
As you will see to use L-exp with all its features you should register. Once you have done it you will have all the benefits of L-exp and in the future you could become an editor and making your own lists. I don't think of making of L-exp a paying service it's just a matter of security.
You can ask for an invitation here.
You can share them by sending by email, add the link to del.icio.us or other ways I will add in the future.
Because I wanted to learn an opensource web framework. Ruby on Rails had a lot of interesting elements. After doing some small tests I decided to learn it seriously with a project. Here I am.
One of the best things of Rails is the community and I got a lot of help from the irc channel Rubyonrails. It's great to see that people helping others.
As you will see the graphic design has been the most hard task (needs more help). You can learn to program but to design and do beautiful things is more dificult. If some designer wants to show his art in this project I will be open to talk about it. Also I will put a reference to his web and name on the main page.
To deal with CSS and HTML has been more dificult than to learn Rails.
I have to consider the time used to learn Rails and to develop the project. Globally I spent 3 months using some nights and afternoons. When my wife and children let me some free time. If I started the project today I will do it in the half time. Really Ruby on Rails is a great web framework.
I took some design ideas from a lot of websites. But specially www.meneame.net gave me good ideas. Great spanish Digg version from Ricardo Galli.
Why not? I practice english and I make a project in the language of internet. If you see errors, please feel free to send me an email.
See the L-exp list I created to explain it.
